Pearl Jam Fanzines

Release Fanzine

Release - An International Fanzine for Pearl Jam Fans was published in Woerden, Holland in the mid 1990’s. Issue 3 - Fall / Winter 1995-1996 includes a great quote about Jeff Ament’s 12-string bass.

Yeah, that pretty well sums it up…

Footsteps - A Pearl Jam Fanzine

Footsteps - A Pearl Jam Fanzine was published in Baton Rouge, Louisiana from December of 1992 through the end of 1996, with at least 10 issues being printed. The issues are photocopied on standard 8½” by 11” paper and stapled together.

Several issues contain photos of Jeff Ament and his Hamer 12-string bass.

Why? - Pearl Jam Fanzine

The Why? Pearl Jam fanzine was published quarterly starting in early 1993 by Karen Sutton in London, UK. As is typical of band fanzines, Why? contains fan-written opinions of concerts, album reviews, tour dates, and artwork inspired by the band.

The fanzines are not well printed, and most photos are of such low quality that there is no point in trying to display them here. There are scattered photos of Jeff Ament and his 12-string bass. The real strength of this fanzine is that dozens of bootleg live albums are listed, almost all of which include the song “Jeremy” which always includes the 12-string bass.

Ten Club Newsletter

Pearl Jam started the Ten Club fan organization in 1990 as a way to keep in touch with their fans, announce upcoming tour dates, and offer band merchandise. The Ten Club Newsletter was first published in early 1993 and ran for 24 issues through the end of 2005. The newsletters were created in a variety of unorthodox sizes and shapes with some including large posters of the band or band calendars. Occasionally photos of Jeff Ament’s 12-string basses were included.

Ten Club Newsletter was replaced by Deep magazine in early 2006. All issues are printed in a standard 6” wide by 9” high size with a more consistent format. The Winter / Spring 2009 issue shows Jeff Ament on the front cover with his Hamer “Ament” B12A 12-string bass, plus there is a photo of him playing this same bass live at a small club.
