Bass Magazine for Professional & Amateur Bassists began as a bi-monthly publication in 1986 then eventually was published monthly. The magazine’s offices are in Tokyo, Japan and the magazine is still in being published in print every month.
This article displays the 35 bass guitars in the collection of Chris Chaney, bassist for Alanis Morissette and Jane’s Addiction. A burst-finish Hamer B12L 12-string bass is included.
A rough translation of the text:
“Chris, a big fan of Cheap Trick's Tom Petersson, acquired this 12-string bass through a friend of the owner of the Hamer company. This is a 4-string bass with octave strings tuned one octave up added to each string, and with two high-strings played with the down-stroke of the pick, the high-strings will sound first, so it produces a very wide, double-tone sound different than any other instrument. Therefore, it is said that using this instrument will come up with a bass part that is completely different sounding. He hasn't used it in the studio, but he says he wants to use it in his own projects.”
