LaCroix Guitars
John LaCroix started building custom stringed instruments in 2005 in his shop in Saint Thomas, Ontario, Canada. All LaCroix guitars are hand built of solid tone woods, with no plastics or composite plywoods used in the construction.
A custom 12-string bass was commissioned in late 2018, and it took 2½ years to be completed. This bass was the last instrument that LaCroix completed prior to his retirement in 2021.
The body is artist grade Burled Maple, and the back is one solid piece of Swamp Ash. Birdseye Maple neck with mineral deposits, ebony 24-fret fingerboard. The body has a large sound chamber with sound hole. The bass weighs 9 pounds. EMG-X split coil pickups,
The bass is 32” medium scale. Ebony fingerboard with 24 frets. The headstock is a combination of Ebony, Maple, and Pear, with inlaid mother-of-pearl fleur de lis.
