An article about “groovin’ bassists” includes a segment on Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament. It reads in part, “Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament has clearly established himself as one of today’s top bassists with his energetic approach and equally melodic, supportive and creative bass lines. In his playing one can hear a wide variety of influences - everything from the Motown funk of James Jamerson to the pummeling rock of John Paul Jones. His bass arsenal is also stacked, as he incorporates four-string fretted an unfretted instruments, as well as eight- and 12-string basses into Pearl Jam’s music...”
Included in the segment are sheet music and tabs of several songs, none of which are “Jeremy”, which is the most distinctive Pearl Jam bass line ever recorded. Clearly, the article wasn’t written by a bassist…
