Fruitbasket Upset Fanzine

Fruitbasket Upset was a music fanzine that included interviews plus reviews of live shows and albums. It was published in Fullerton, California. In addition to staff writers, the fanzine included many reviews written by local contributors.

In a review of Cheap Trick’s At Budokan and Budokan II albums the point is made that these weren’t really “live” albums at all given the substantial amount of studio sweetening that was added.

Editor’s note: The bass tone on Cheap Trick’s video performance recorded at the Budokan which was broadcast on Japanese television is markedly different than the tone on the released albums. So many 12-string bassists attempt to copy Petersson’s ‘At Budokan’ tone, yet based upon the videos even Petersson didn’t achieve it during their live shows.
