Chandler Pickguards

The first Royale 12-string bass, built for Tom Petersson.

The first Royale 12-string bass was built for Tom Petersson, and it incorporates a uniquely shaped pickguard. It is set back about 1” from the edge of the body. This shape was reserved for Petersson.

The same pickguard material was used for the output jack plate.

After receiving requests for this same style of pickguard from other Royale buyers, Chandler began offering a pickguard option that was very similar to the one on Tom's Royale. This version is slightly larger and wider than the first pickguard and extends almost to the edge of the body.

Almost all other Chandler Royale 12-string basses, including those played by Tom Petersson, incorporate this more streamlined and slender style of pickguard.
