DJ Rutt's 12-String Bass Rig

"Hey Surf! Thought I would send you some info and pics of my 12ver rig now that we have a band together and our recording is almost done. I am using a 3-amp setup since my Chandler Royale has the three output configuration."

"The neck pickup is plugged into a Samson SR-22 wireless unit and that signal feeds a late 70's model Musicman HD-130 run through a David Eden 1x15 cabinet. The center pickup is plugged into a Samson SR-22 wireless unit and that signal feeds a late 70's model Musicman HD-150 run through a David Eden 4x10 cabinet. These Musicman heads are the solid state preamp and tube power version."

"The bridge pickup is plugged into a Samson SR-22 wireless unit and that signal feeds the guitar combo amp. At this time I am using a Peavey Bandit with one 12" speaker, but the guitar amp might be changed soon. I use a splitter box for my 4-string bass that connects it with the two Musicman setups."

"I don't (won't) run direct - all the cabs are miked. I use an AKG D112 on the 1x15 cab, a Shure SM57 on the 4x10 cab and a Sennheiser E609 or similar type microphone on the guitar amp. I don't use any effects or run a tuner inline. I have never had the Chandler come out of tune doing a 45-60 minute set (never say never) and cross my fingers, if it does I would finish out the set with a 4-string."

"I also have a small rack mount setup consisting of an Ampeg SVP Pro tube preamp, a power amp and a Sabine rack tuner. This is a backup amp or I use this for smaller gigs with the Eden 4x10 cab. It is a nice sounding rig but in no way can it produce the sound of my larger multi-amp setup."

"Would like to give you a big shout out and reps for keeping the site alive and fresh! I am always checking it out for tips and ideas, and just to see what the rest of the 12ver community is doing. Best wishes and Thanks!"
